Who Has Your Back?

I am quickly learning that it is not easy being a business lady. There are ups and downs and then a few more downs. But a piece of advice for new (and seasoned) entrepreneurs, hold on, you can’t give up. We all need that dose of encouragement. It is wonderful to have people on your side who will support you. It is also important to have people who will be that voice of reason for you and tell you the truth. As the kids say, you need a ride or die (someone who has your back no matter what). My circle is tight. But, I am fortunate to have two sister friends, or as I call them my Ride or Die, who encourage and support me. They give me their opinion, sometimes whether I like it or not. They give me a dose of “real talk” when needed. And believe me, sometimes I don’t want to hear the negative. But, I know what they have to say comes from the heart. My mom always told me, “not everyone who smiles in your face is your friend.” This is great advice. But, I also know there are many who smile at you and really mean it. It is up to you to weed out the naysayers (or haters) and determine who is really on your side… until the end.
